Peace and quiet for adults

At SwissHouse we host guests aged 12 and over. It isn’t a gesture against children. It’s the only way we can guarantee the very thing you come here for: quiet.

Why we do it this way

We're saying this as parents of three

We know both sides very well. We know what a holiday with small children looks like, when a parent doesn’t sit down all week. And we also know how rare a stay is when, for the first time in years, you read a book from cover to cover.

SwissHouse has 19 rooms. In a house this small, every sound carries further than you’d think: down the hallway, through the dining room, into the wellness area. Either the house is calm for everyone, or for no one. We chose calm, and we say so out loud in advance, so that no one is surprised once they arrive.

That’s why we host guests aged 12 and over. It applies to everyone equally, all year round, without exception. It concerns accommodation only — the restaurant stays open to all during the day.

“Quiet isn't a perk that comes with the room. It's the reason you come here.”

David and Pavlína, owners of SwissHouse

What it means during your stay

Four things you gain from it

01

Breakfast without rushing

Breakfast is served until 11:00. You can linger at the table, and no one hurries you away.

02

Wellness without the bustle

The sauna and massages run at an unhurried pace. You do not have to plan around the least busy time.

03

Dinner at an easy pace

The restaurant cooks from the current menu, not from a children’s menu. In the evening, the day naturally slows down here.

04

Quiet when you need it

We keep quiet hours in the house and garden from 22:00 to 8:00. You will not be woken by footsteps overhead in the morning.

And what it doesn't mean

We've nothing against children. We have three of our own.

Children need a playground, space and, above all, the freedom to be loud. SwissHouse can’t offer them that, and it would be unfair to pretend otherwise. We’d rather say so upfront than have you discover, once you’re in the room, that this isn’t the right hotel for your family.

If you’re coming to Mariánské Lázně with younger children, write to us at info@swisshouse.cz. We know the town well and will gladly point you somewhere they’ll be happier. No offence — truly.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us

From what age do you accommodate guests?

From age 12. Guests who are twelve or older are accommodated without any restrictions; they're just as welcome as adults.

Why twelve, specifically?

It's the age when a child can handle a quiet hotel and, above all, enjoy it: the sauna, a long breakfast, a walk to the colonnade.

Do you make an exception for babies?

No. If we made exceptions, the promise of quiet would stop holding for all the other guests we made it to.

Does the rule apply to the restaurant too?

No. You're welcome to come for lunch or an afternoon coffee with a child of any age — we have no problem with that. The age-12 rule applies to accommodation, because we guard the quiet mainly in the evening and morning, when people are sleeping in the house and garden.

And the wellness area?

The sauna and wellness area are for staying guests, so the rule applies there automatically.

Choose a stay where quiet truly has its place

If you’re looking for a hotel where you sleep well, mornings don’t have to start in a rush and evenings stay quiet, take a look at the available dates at SwissHouse. We host guests aged 12 and over so that the calm people come here for holds true for everyone.
